Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous is a 12-Step, 12-Tradition oriented fellowship based on the model pioneered by Alcoholics Anonymous.

The only qualification for S.L.A.A. membership is a desire to stop living out a pattern of sex and love addiction. S.L.A.A. is supported entirely through the contributions of its membership and is free to all who need it.

To counter the destructive consequences of sex and love addiction, we draw on five major resources:

Sobriety: Our willingness to stop acting out in our own personal bottom-line addictive behavior on a daily basis.
Sponsorship/Meetings: Our capacity to reach out for the supportive fellowship within S.L.A.A.
Steps: Our practice of the Twelve-Step program of recovery to achieve sexual and emotional sobriety.
Service: Our giving back to the S.L.A.A. community what we continue to freely receive.
Spirituality: Our developing a relationship with a Power greater than ourselves which can guide and sustain us in recovery.

As a fellowship, S.L.A.A. has no opinion on outside issues and seeks no controversy. S.L.A.A. is not affiliated with any other organizations, movements, or causes, either religious or secular.

We are, however, united in a common focus: dealing with our addictive sexual and emotional behavior. We find a common denominator in our obsessive/compulsive patterns which renders any personal differences of sexual or gender orientation irrelevant.

We need protect with special care the anonymity of every S.L.A.A. member. Additionally, we try to avoid drawing undue attention to S.L.A.A. as a whole from the public media.

Our Purpose

The purpose of this site is to make known the services of the fellowship of S.L.A.A. in the Tampa Bay Area (and throughout the West Central Region of Florida). The Tampa Bay Intergroup cannot, and does not, speak for all of S.L.A.A.

Our services include regular weekly group meetings at various locations in nine cities, a telephone help-line, a regular monthly newsletter, and various annual gatherings and retreats.

The Tampa Bay Intergroup serves the individual groups and provides an interface to the S.L.A.A. Fellowship-Wide Services located at 1550 NE Loop 410, Ste 118 San Antonio, TX 78209.

Do you need help?

You may recognize yourself in some of the Characteristics of Sex and Love Addiction. However, as you recover, you may see in yourself additional traits you did not previously detect. These characteristics are not offered as a definitive, diagnostic checklist. They do express the shared experience of many in the S.L.A.A. fellowship.

Individual patterns of sex and love addiction vary. Patterns of recovery necessarily also will vary. Generally, recovery from our bottom-line behaviors means the return of choice, sanity, and personal dignity. As you work the 12-Steps of Recovery and use all of the tools made available to us through S.L.A.A., you will begin to notice some of these Signs of Recovery.

How to find a Meeting

Weekly meetings are held in Tampa, Lakeland, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Dunedin, Tarpon Springs, Port Richey, Bradenton, Sarasota, Fort Myers, and Gainesville.

All of our local meetings are closed. This means only persons who have a desire to stop acting out in a pattern of their own sex and love addiction may attend.

Most local meetings are also screened. Attending a screened meeting requires a prior meeting with another member or a telephone call to the help-line.
