Starting a new group - Alpharetta/Johns CreekSubmitted by franp2001 on Thu, 2007-02-15 18:32.
I am hoping to start a Noon day group here in Alpharetta/Johns Creek area. I'm sure there are folks who could use a noon day meeting in this part of town (as there are currently only evening groups). If anyone is interested in talking about how we might do this please reply to the posting. I look forward to to talking to you all. We had an SA group try to start a meeting a year or so ago, only to lose their location to a scheduling conflict. Contact me if you want and I will put you in touch with that person and let's see what happens? Mike Z I am interested in finding a group in the North Fulton area. Please let me know if one is in place or forming. Thanks I am interested in joining a SLAA group. What I'm finding is that there aren't many locations & times that are working for me. I see someone was interested in starting a group in Alpharetta/Johns Creek back in February. Are there any people out there still interested in starting one up in this area?
I know how hard it can be to find a location and time that works. But I am reminded, by your post, of what it says in "How it Works," "Willing to go to any lengths." If it's any consolence, I did 90 meetings in 90 days using only public transportation while working a 60-hour/week job. Anything is possible with God's help! Also, someone with a lot of sobriety once said how important it is to "attend regular meetings, regularly." There are so many S-meetings in Atlanta that I could go to a different meeting everyday for several months. But then I would remain "anonymous in an anonymous program." No one would know if I was missing. No one would say, "where's Joe?" I wouldn't connect with others. Therefore, I wouldn't connect with God. I am glad that you have reminded me of the importance of a home group--a place I attend regularly, even if it's difficult to get there. And then, of course, there's the story of the two Englishmen who drove to Ireland on a weekly basis--a four-hour trip one-way--for the only twelve step meeting around. peace, Joe |
